Minecraft is a sandbox game, often recognized by it's unique design: Everything, including NPCs, landscapes and the player itself is made out of cubes and cuboids. Minecraft can be played in the classic singleplayer or with lots of other players on thousands of minecraft servers, hosted by the community. Minecraft is avalable on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and mobile devices.
The goal of Minecraft depends on the gamemode, you're playing. In the classic "Survival mode" you want to survive as long as possible and fight your way to another dimension, called the "end". In the end, you fight the enderdragon, the endboss of Minecraft. If you succeed, the game isnßt over. The game is over when you stop playing it. If you want to, you can play forever and mine, fight farm and trade your way through the endless worlds of Minecraft.
Minecraft was developped by Markus Persson (aka Notch). Its early acces version was released on the 17. May 2009. Version 1.0 was released on the 18. November 2011.
